How to make this Coffee Mousse Recipe

I decided to keep this an easy no-cook recipe. Other mousse recipes typically use egg whites or egg yolks. I wanted this to be easier and ready in just 10 minutes.

Step One: Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form in a stand mixer with a large bowl. Put the whipped cream mixture into a second bowl.

Variations

Add flavors - You can add a little bit of vanilla extract for a fun vanilla flavor with this mousse texture.

Use espresso powder - If you don't have instant coffee granules or instant coffee powder, you can use espresso powder for this recipe. Any coffee mixture will work, but just know that some will have a stronger flavor than others. Espresso mousse sounds like a fun one to make!

Stir in melted chocolate - You can take these dessert cups over the top by stirring in some melted chocolate! Adding a chocolate mixture will really make this fluffy coffee dessert recipe taste sweet.

Add a sweetener of choice - If you want this whipped coffee mousse to be sweeter, you can add honey or even a little bit of maple syrup to the cream cheese mix.

Panna Cotta - If you love jello this Espresso Panna Cotta recipe takes it to a whole new level.

Common Questions

Can I make this recipe using hot cocoa powder?

You actually can! The fun part about this recipe is that it's versatile in how it can be made or altered. As long as you have an electric mixer to whip it all together well, using hot cocoa should work just fine. You can then add some chocolate shavings to the top to make a fun and easy dessert. This would be a great option to have for the kids to enjoy without having that coffee flavor.

Can I make this mocha mousse recipe using decaf coffee?

You bet! Since this is a type of dessert, most people don't want to be drinking strong black coffee at night. Don't deprive yourself of enjoying it, instead, swap out the regular coffee for decaf. No one will ever know the difference because this recipe will look and taste the same.

What toppings can I add to this simple no bake dessert?

Everyone knows that toppings are the best! Adding shaved chocolate on top of this coffee mousse is never a bad idea. You can also drizzle a little bit of melted milk chocolate on top or even use this mousse as a topping itself to pair with a delicious homemade sponge cake. Did I mention that you have options?

Don't forget that chocolate chips are the perfect go-to option to grab and add on top, too. White chocolate chips and dark chocolate chips work well for a fun flavor and taste.

Can I make this ahead of time?

For the best results, this is best to make and serve right away. Since you're doing a lot of mixing with the heavy whipping cream and other ingredients, once those peaks are formed, it's best to serve and enjoy. It is ok to make up to 24 hours ahead of time.

We use this as part of ourCappuccino Cake Recipe and leftovers of that are still amazing 3-4 days later.

You can also use it as a filling in our Espresso Cupcakes Recipe.
